When we rolled out Kojo, no one was unhappy, and that is hard to do. It is supporting our procurement process from all sides and that is hard to accomplish.

The Story

Farris Electric is a Bay Area-based electrical contractor serving Office TI, Data Centers, Clean Rooms, Hospitals, and R&D. With over three decades at the company, Principal and Co-Owner Tyler Beck knows the business from the ground up—literally. He started as a delivery driver and worked his way to the top, so when something isn’t working, he understands.

The procurement process was a mess of voicemails from the field—so many, in fact, they had to set up a dedicated line just to keep up. Their procurement team would play back messages, try to decipher them, and hope they got the order right. Tyler knew this wasn’t sustainable as the rules around the process started to pile up. The breakdowns in communication were costing time, energy, and draining productivity.

Tyler first heard about Kojo through a cold call. Like most, he was skeptical that a tech cold call would be right for Farris—he brushed it off. They had no IT department, limited budget, and zero appetite for tech headaches. But something about Kojo’s team stuck with him. The tipping point was seeing the Kojo mobile app demo. Using Kojo to manage field requisitions was as easy as online ordering. He knew this would be second nature to his team.  So, he took a leap—and it paid off.

The Solution

Kojo immediately simplified requisitions and eliminated the growing tangle of rules and freed field teams. Kojo was working even better than expected and leadership breathed a sigh of relief. Even without using every bell and whistle, Kojo delivered results—thanks to flexible packaging that let Tyler focus on the features that matter most to his biggest challenges.

After Kojo was implemented, the entire team was finding new ways that Kojo benefited their roles. The field embraced the mobile app over the old call-in process that was riddled with human error. The purchasing team suddenly was not burdened with endless phone calls or deciphering voice memos and could focus on more strategic tasks.

Leadership’s favorite perk? Kojo’s analytics. Tyler now has clear visibility into what’s being ordered, where it’s coming from, and which crews are driving the most success. He’s using that data to improve processes and better support his team.

As Farris explores prefab, Tyler sees even more opportunity ahead. Kojo gives the field the same transparency and ordering power with prefab materials. They can see the pieces of the assembly and track the status of their orders, all while saving labor hours in the field.

Tyler thinks  “Seeing is believing” when it comes to Kojo and is proud that Kojo has exceeded their expectations.
